Terms and acceptable use
Last updated 22 October 2026. These terms apply when you use 4w1z.io, a link shortener operated by Dented Printer, based in Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or a link you agree to them. How we handle personal information is in the privacy notice.
Where 4w1z is offered
Accounts are currently by invitation and offered to people in Canada. Anyone can open a 4w1z link. We add regions only when we can meet their legal requirements, and will update these terms when we do.
Your account
- You must be at least 16.
- Use a contact email you control and keep your sign-in methods (passkeys, Google) secure.
- Accounts are personal: don't share, sell or transfer them.
- You are responsible for the links created in your account. Tell us at wand@4w1z.io if you think someone else is using it.
Your links
- You keep any rights you have in your destinations. You let us store them, redirect visitors to them, check them with link-protection services and show you their counts.
- Short codes are random unless you have been allowed custom aliases. We may refuse aliases that are reserved, misleading or offensive.
- A deleted or expired code is retired permanently. It is never given to anyone else, and it can't be restored.
- Links can stop working when their fixed expiry passes, when inactivity rules apply (we warn you first and you can renew), when you or we delete them, or when your account ends. 4w1z does not promise that any link will work forever.
- If your account has destination editing, you can change where an active link goes. A link's destination can't be changed after it expires.
- Links that other Dented Printer tools create for you (such as Cardlink) also follow that tool's terms.
Acceptable use
Don't use 4w1z to create, share or point to:
- phishing, credential theft, scams or fraud;
- malware or unwanted software;
- spam or unsolicited bulk messages, including messages that break Canada's anti-spam law;
- illegal content. Child sexual abuse material is reported to the authorities;
- harassment, threats, publishing someone's private information, or intimate images shared without consent;
- content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- impersonation or aliases designed to mislead.
Also don't:
- use 4w1z or chains of other shorteners to hide a destination from another platform's safety checks;
- create links in bulk by automation, scrape the service, or probe, overload or attack it;
- get around rate limits, blocks, suspensions or other protections.
How we enforce these terms
We may refuse, pause, block or delete links, and suspend or delete accounts, that break these terms or put people at risk. We usually explain why and give you a chance to respond, unless the risk is urgent or the law prevents it. Automated safety checks can be wrong in either direction: if you think a block is a mistake, email us and we will review it. A report alone never suspends an account automatically.
Reporting a link
Use the report form or email wand@4w1z.io with the short link and the reason. Urgent safety reports are handled first. For a copyright or trademark complaint, include the work or mark, the short link, your contact details and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. Never send passwords or recovery links.
Changes and availability
4w1z is currently free and may change, pause or remove features. We aim to keep it running but do not guarantee it will always be available. Any paid feature will come with its own terms before you are charged. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email account holders before the change takes effect.
Ending
You can delete your account at any time in account settings. We may close accounts that break these terms. If we close the service or your account for another reason, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email where we can, so you can download your data.
Responsibility
4w1z is provided as it is. We are not responsible for the content of the sites that links lead to. To the extent the law allows, Dented Printer is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (currently nothing). Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection laws where you live give you the right to use your local courts.
